paperCut.

Experimenting with paper and light.

paperCut is part of a study that crosses borders between Photography and Visual Communication. The resulting collection of ten frames, where
bi-dimensional and tridimensional aspects seem to coexist, is obtained by photographing hand-made paper models with one single artificial light.

Consciously subtracting colour to create a more graphic and abstract image, guides the eye of the viewer and demands more attention on lights and shadows, while the mind tries to find an association with familiar objects.

The title of each artwork is personal to the artist and relates to the specific moment in time when the image was taken, it is not to be interpreted as an absolute representation of the subject. In fact, the viewer is encouraged to connect with each image to find resemblances and personal meaning.

It is indeed a guided chaos, where to bring the mind back from wandering,
the images are following a specific order: from left to right, from top to bottom, gradually shifting from a round and soft subject to a square and rigorous one.
