“Simplicity is about subtracting the obvious, and adding the meaningful.”
John Maeda, The Laws of Simplicity
Simple is not easy. Understanding shapes, light, colour, all these elements in relation to what is their place in the frame, and how the way they combine can affect the perception, is not something that happens overnight.
To create a simple image, one that feels right, where the elements are balanced or unbalanced but in the right way; requires study, trial and error, and attention to detail.
The Collections on this website all have in common the same research for simplicity, which doesn’t of course mean aiming for a soulless perfection, but striving to represent a still and peaceful image of natural elements, objects, and architecture. The main aim of each image is to allow the mind to stop for a moment and hopefully find relief from the constant, unfiltered, and overwhelming flow of information and moving images that most of us are absorbed into on a daily basis.
